Summary: The hike is through a High-Desert Meadow. In the spring, poppies sometimes bloom. Although the trail is listed as a 1/2 mile loop. there are several trails splitting off the loop, and 2 or 3 hours could easily be spent wandering around and looking at the plants. Trailhead: From the intersection of I-10 and US-54 (Patriot Freeway), follow US-54 north to the intersection od US-54 and Trans-Mountain Road (Loop 375). Turn left (west) on Trans-Mountain Road. Go west on Trans-Mountain Road about 0.64 miles. Pass the Border Patrol Museum, and turn right into the El Paso Museum of Archaeology parking lot. The hike trailhead is in the NW corner.
