Summary: A long hike but the views are wonderful ... better in the winter when there are fewer people out an about. We did it in 2 and 1/2 days. This is not a light hike. You should know what you are doing and be prepared. The total vertical is more than recorded by this program which has an upper limit of 5900 ft. Most people go in thru the Zealand road / campground but we chose the hard route over Tom. Trailhead: Start at the AMC Highland center in Crawford Notch behind the old train station. Follow the Avalon, A To Z trails to Zealand Hut. Then follow Twinway to the bondcliff trail exiting on the Wilderness trail and Lincoln Woods trail. Make sure you stop off at Tom and West Bond if possible.
