Summary: The trail head directly North from the trailhead. Do not take the first bridge that is just 200 feet north of the trailhead but continue along the East side of the creek. There will be a bridge to cross later when the stream turns East. Continue on the trail as it by passes a head wall and then passes Navajo Lake. The trial will head East through the Navajo Basin almost to its end. Near the East end look for switchbacks that head North again. Just after passing an old mine turn off the trail to the right and head for a small saddle just right of a prominent point in front of you. At the saddle, cross to the other side of the ridge and traverse below the point on your left and regain the ridge well to the right of that point to avoid the worst part of the ridge. The trail will reform and become clear again. Follow it to a false summit where you will have to descend 100 feet and then do a steep climb the last 150 feet to reach the summit of Mount Wilson. Trailhead: From the town of Telluride head south on Colorado 145 over Lizard Head Pass. 5.8 miles after the summit of Lizard Head Pass there will be a turn on the right hand side onto a dirt road that will ascend the valley wall. This is passable by passenger cars, but doesn't look like much of a road. Follow this road for 7.3 miles to the signed entrance for the parking lot for Navajo Basin. There is ample parking.
