Highlights:

Ocean View, Town of Trinidad
Near:Trinidad, CA
Scenery:
Distance:1.24 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:303 ft
Hike Time:1 hours
Difficulty:Moderate
Trail Condition:OK, but a few difficult spots

Summary: The trail leads through shrubby vegetation up a slight grade to the west side of the head. Keep your eyes peeled for poison oak.

From the west side of the head,on a clear day, you can see Patrick's Point. To the west, sea lions bask on the rocks supposedly. We could hear them. Maybe its time to purchase better bino's.

There are benches and a cross at the summit. The cross bears a date of 1775 and is a historic landmark.

My marked trail is off. my GPS did not track it and i tried to mark off what was on my map. So info maybe be slightly off. But should not be by much

Trailhead: From Highway 101, take the Main St./Westhaven Dr. exit into Trinidad, and go west on Main St. to its end. Turn left onto Trinity St. for about three blocks to its end at Edwards. The lighthouse replica is directly ahead, with parking just to the right; turn right onto Edwards and continue down the hill to reach the headland and trails.

Have taken the hike numerous times. Loved it, it is not difficult, but I do recommend comfy walking shoes, a bottle of water & time to take in the fabulous views! I will be making that hike again in Sept of 2009 for my wedding at the top!! A great place to take the whole family!

Great exercise...gorgeous views all around--the quaint harbor to the south and the open sea to the west and north...awesome!
