Spur hike from Boundary Creek to Dunanda Falls

Highlights:

A beautiful Yellowstone Park hike to magnificent Waterfalls
Near:Squirrel, ID
Scenery:
Distance:4 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:466 ft
Hike Time:2 hours
Difficulty:Moderate
Trail Condition:Well maintained trail
HikeType:Out and Back

Summary: A nice hike continuing along Boundary Creek to the beautiful Dunanda Falls. This report will take you to a view point above the falls but there is also a trail to the bottom of the falls where natural hot springs enter Boundary creek and make for a very nice warm bath. Boundary creek does have to be forded again as well as several other springs and creeks but I found logs to cross on these. This hike is deeper into the Yellowstone back country so care should be given in the advent a bear meeting arises. Again, deer and elk are plentiful here. A little Mule deer buck was curious enough to stand his ground and watch us pass from about 50 feet off the trail. You will see Silver Scarf falls from the trail but you have to do a little bushwhacking to get a good view. Also remember this is back country. There are no handrails or slip proof sidewalks at the top of the falls. Be sure of your footing at all times.
Trailhead: This trail is a spur trail from my Boundary Creek trail report. The map and coordinates pick up at the trail junction between the Boundary Creek trail and the Bechler river trail. For further information see my Boundary Creek trail report. (Lat:44.2261 Lon:-111.01577)

Beautiful falls. 2 for the price of one hike. I went at the end of June which was too early. Water on the trail that was unpleasant but the mosquitoes ate me up. They don't make enough Deet to protect you against these hungry critters.
