Great fall hike as challenging as you want to make it. DON'T USE THE MAPQUEST LINK AS A GUIDE. It shows a South Carolina location East and South of the actual state park.

As a beginner hiker the trail was very strenuous hike, but the scenery is worth it. You get a great view of the surrounding area as well as up close to wildlife at the top of King's Pinnacle. Best time to go would be during the spring or autumn. The trails are well marked and maintained. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great exercise.

An excellent hike with a steady uphill section to the summit (1705 ft, 755 ft absolute gain). Mostly smooth. Easy if your pace uphill is 3 MPH, strenuous if the pace 2 MPH or below.

Yikes!! This was my second hike of the day going after climbing the tower peak. I was definitely hurting but could not have asked for a better experience! This is a true hikers trail with rock paths, roots and dirt trails. Amazing views and the Crowder's Mountain lookout was a beautiful finish. Be sure to make this hike, but make it your first or only hike of the day!!!

I like this area because it's close enought to Charlotte that if I leave work I have a 30 mins drive to the trail head. The elevation on the top of the Pinnacle trail is only around 1600 however that last 500 ft feels great. Once you get to what you think is the end of the trail is actually a bolder that you must climb up and over to see the real view the town/city of Gastonia. Once you see that view keep going to the right till you reach the last rock cropings that will give you the view of Crowder's mtn lookout.
