Summary: From the gate (the left of the two) you start a sustained up hill climb on the 700 road which is packed gravel, at the "Y" take the right arm (or the 760) and continue to climb a sometimes at a very steep angle. You will get some wonderful views of the forest and the valley below. At the top of the 760 you will see a single track trai on your right and plastic marker spray painted 700 as this is the junction back onto the 700 road. Take the single track trail back down (just after you start, stay right at the "Y") and take a wonderful walk back down through the forest. About 1/4 or 1/3 of your way on the trail you will come out onto a gravel road, go right and in about 20 yards look for the trail on your right. You will cross the 760 about 1/2 way and end at the 760 after about a mile total. Go right and follow the road back down to the 700 orange gate. Horses can not take the single track trail, just come back down the 760 road (or everyone in the winter)
Trailhead: From Corvallis take 3rd Street/HWY 99 W about 5 miles to the light at Lewisburg Ave, take a left and continue until you take a gradual right onto Sulphur Springs Road which will take you up and over the Lewisburg Saddle (a starting point for many hikes) and back down, at the junction with Soap Creek Road, stay left and the pavement will end. Follow this road to a small parking area at the 700 orange gate. This is your starting point. At the top of the 760 road is a single track trail to can take back down for about a mile, but in the winter to avoid the mud, you can just come back down the 760. (Lat:44.6432 Lon:-123.3221)
