Summary: Forstburg is the turnaround point to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and the Allegheny Highlands Trail shares the same corridor for most of the way. Aside from a short section of minimal fence as a reminder to keep of the tracks, nothing separates the trail users from the steam engine that uses the corridor.

On the days the train is running (mostly weekends), be on the trail either side of noon to see the turn of the century steam engine climbing the 1.75% grade towards Frostburg. The train leaves Frostburg at 2pm for the trip back to Cumberland. Visit http://www.wmsr.com/ for details.

Trailhead: To get to the parking area at Frostburg turn north onto Depot Street. Turn right onto New Hope Road just after the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad Station and then down the hill a short way. (N39 39.552 W78 55.317) There is a handicap accessable portajohn and a switchback trail to take you back up to the train station.

Getting to the Woodcock Hollow parking area is a turn south off of Rt.36 at Georges Creek and then a mile up Woodcock Hollow Rd. There is room for three vehicles in the small parking area. There is also a handicap accessable portajohn and picnic pavilion.
