Summary: Lot's of birds on this fun loop hike thru the upper Arroyo Sequit tributary. Along the way you will find meadows, picnic areas, spectacular views of the Santa Monicas, lush vegetation and a waterfall in season. This is a perfect place to take the family for a picnic and a little hiking around. There is also an astronomy observatory area that is used by Santa Monica College students. This site was a former ranch and sits on 155 acres. I was the only hiker here on a Sunday afternooon. Trailhead: From the 101 Fwy take Westlake Blvd. south to Mulholland Hwy. and turn right. On Mulholland Hwg. at mile 5.6 (roadside marker) and at address 34138 turn left into the small parking lot in front of the gate. Walk up the paved road past the ranger station to the trailhead. Green grass, babbling brooks, and wild peonies and ceanothus just beginning to bloom. Best views of Boney Mountain in the area. No one else in sight.
