Summary: The hike to the top of Bald Hill offers some beautiful views of the Willamette Valley and Coast Range mountains. On a clear day, you can also see parts of the Cascade Mountain Range. Bald Hill area offers opportunities for everyone. I have both hiked and mountain biked to the top. When I just recently hiked there to get data for Local Hikes, I passed a couple jogging on the way down, a mountain biker, a dog walker, and a couple hiking. There is a paved path that works its way almost around the entire base of the hill that is well used on almost any given day, especially in the summer months. The trails to the top vary from very well maintained to somewhat maintained. I chose to take the horse trail route this time. The trail is always clear, and wide enough that two horses can fit side by side in most areas. The trail to the top is heavily wooded, but the top offers outstanding views because there aren't many trees on top - hence the name Bald Hill.
Trailhead: There are many ways to get to the top of Bald Hill. I chose the route that begins on Oak Creek Road, and follows the horse trail up to the top. This is probably the easiest trail to get to the top. The parking lot for this trail is .84 miles West on Oak Creek road past the 53rd/Oak Creek stoplight. (Lat:44.56775 Lon:-123.33255)

I used to run this trail for hours - great hills to work on cardio with a fantastic view at the top. 1.5 mile paved trail when I want to work on speed. All around great place. Side trails take you through farms and out to other trails closer to the coast range.

I love Bald Hill, I've horse riden, biked, hiked, and jagged all its trail, and connected from there to the Fitton Green. There are some bikers who need to respect the winter close off of trails better, though.
