100 ft waterfall, deep canyon.
Near:Saluda, NC
Scenery:
Distance:1.5 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:200 ft
Hike Time:1 hours
Difficulty:Easy
Trail Condition:OK, but a few difficult spots
HikeType:Out and Back

Summary: The trail starts off by going north through a small open pasture. It is a nice stroll under a canopy of trees along the creek. After a 1/4 mile look down to the right and note the rapids of the small canyon. After viewing Little Bradley Falls, rock-hop across the creek and continue north. At the top of the incline veer right and follow the unmarked trail around the ridge line to a viewing area. Caution: this viewing platform are natural rocks with no railing. Use extreme caution. The canyon and Bradley Falls can be viewed from this point. Some hikers attempt to get to the base of the falls through an alternate route. This is extremely hazardous and extreme caution should be exercised any where near the waterfall as numerous accidents have occurred here in the past.
Trailhead: From Spartanburg head west on I-26. At the Saluda exit (28) take a right and head north approximately 3 miles. At the bottom of the incline is a gate on the left hand side. On the other side of the gate is the start of the trail. The road down to the trailhead use to be gravel, but was paved within the last two years. (Lat:35.15 Lon:-82.17)

Hiking from the bottom up is the safest way into Big Bradley. If anyone needs a guide, directions, or a place to camp shoot me an email. My campground joins the Game Lands on Green River Cove Road. You can walk from your tent to the falls without ever hitting the pavement. We're also right across the road from one of the trail heads for the Green River Game Land Trails. Many connecting trails make up over 16 miles of the trail system. www.wildernesscovecampground.com

I hiked the trail to Bradley Falls but did not attempt to use the ropes on the rock face to get to the bottom. Couldn't find little bradley falls because the trail isn't really marked that well. Do use caution when going down the mountain on obscure trails. Yes the creek is beautiful when you get to the bottom but it is very difficult to get down, and harder to get back up. Always take a buddy!!

Great hike. Very well marked trails and fairly easy for most people.

There was an accident at Big Bradley in recent weeks, and a firefighter was killed. This may explain the signs and fence. It can be a very dangerous place.

I love this hike and I have been on it SEVERAL times...this time was interesting though and if ANYONE has any information on it please post. I went today with a friend to show her the waterfall there and when we got to the clearing where the powerlines are it has 'no trespassing, private property' posted everywhere! They cut down the sign they had up to show where to go for the falls and there is a 'gate' set up on the trail where the lookout is. Not sure what's going on with that! Again if you have any information please let me know because I love this hike and I would hate for it to be limited or even not available for everyone to enjoy!

This waterfall is very near where I live and provides just the right level of difficulty to make it good exercise, but it's also not so hard that I get worn out. The waterfall is beautiful, and it's really fun to hike to the bottom of the falls for a quick cool-down in the water. Unfortunately, some people do not treat this prestine place with the respect it deserves. It doesn't take much looking around to find evidence of this in the random trash that litters the bottom. If there's anything good to say about this, it's that there isn't enough to take away from the beauty of the area. This is definitely worth the trip if you live within a couple hours of the trail.

Used to go to the Boy Scout Camp a few miles away each summer as a kid in the 1970's. We would hike from the camp to Big Bradley, and enter from the base of the falls. The swimming was great! What a great experience for us kids. I thought the Boy Scouts were the only ones who knew where these falls were located, since we never saw anyone and the trail was very secluded and inaccessible other than through the Boy Scout Camp. But now I hear a rumor that this old trail is no longer in use due to some property owner that doesn't want anyone crossing his land. Boy Scouts have to obey always...
