Summary: There are a few easy ups and downs along this hike. It is well shaded and cool. It is very amazing to walk amongst these ancient giants, and is an experience not to be missed. The trees and groups are all named for historical US figures, government and military. Take it easy and take your time to enjoy this walk. The Giant Forest is truly amazing. Trailhead: Drive East on the 198 from Visalia for 53 miles. The turnoff for the General Sherman Tree is well marked. Park and begin your hike at the Big Tree. There are numerous trails here, so you can take more than one. The Congress trail is a short two mile loop that is paved and easy for anyone to walk. It is even wheelchair accessible.
