Summary: This section of the Delaware Canal is very suburbanized, with many very nice homes right on the canal. Most of the homes have canoes in the back yard, clearly owned by people who fully appreciate the waterway.

The town of New Hope is a beautiful and interresting community on the canal and is well worth a stop. There is a working barge, the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, shops, restaurants and Bed & Breakfasts.

As with the entirety of the canal towpath, the surface is of a crushed red stope, is even, smooth and flat.

Crossing the bridge at New Hope and returning North to Bulls Island makes a loop of 13.6 miles.

Trailhead: Parking at Hendrick Island is on Route 32 about midway between Lumberville and Center Bridge. (Lat: N40 24.427 Lon: W75 0.205)

The New Hope parking lot is at a restaurant where Rt. 232 intersects with Rt. 32. (Lat: N40 21.424 Lon: W74 56.898) (Lat:40.40702 Lon:-75.00302)
