Summary: Great Brook Farm provides 1000 acres of a variety of woodlands, pastures, swamps and streams as well as old farm structures that may be toured. 20 miles of trails exist, but the one specified here is a loop that covers most of the area. Wear boots, since it is muddy during the Spring, or anytime after a rain. In the winter, crosscountry ski trails are maintained. From the main parking lot, head to the Maple Ridge trail across North Road until it intersects with Pine Point Loop. Turn right and complete the Pine Point Loop around the pond until you return to North Road, then cross and continue on the Woodchuck Trail to the Litchfield loop, which will return you back to the main parking area. In all, leaves little room for the beginner to feel comfortable. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
