Summary: Short, paved trail with benches for rest stops along the way. The trail meanders through a thinly wooded forest with little underbrush. Groves of Holly and Mountain Laurel can be found along the way. It ends at a viewing dock over looking the Great Marsh. Signs of Beaver, and Deer can be seen, and Bald Eagles have been known to be spotted here. Trailhead: I95 south to Lorton exit (Exit 163). Turn left at Lorton Road to Armistead Road. Right on Armistead Road to Route 1 (US 1). Turn right on Route 1 and continue south on Route 1 to Gunston Road light. There is a gas station and a 7-11 store on Route 1 where Gunston Road begins. Turn left onto Gunston Road (Route 242) and continue for approximately 6 miles. The parking lot for the Great Marsh trail is on the right.
