Summary: There is a map at the trailhead. Head up Bluebell trail to Gregory canyon trailhead (there is a fee to park here). From here either way is fun, but clockwise is a little harder. Travel up Gregory canyon to the cabin with outhouses. From there take the trail up the north ridge to the peak. Enjoy the views on a clear day and head down when ready. For an extra workout, go back on Bluebell, otherwise head down the baseline trail to the trailhead. Trailhead: In Boulder, travel west on Baseline from Broadway. After about 1 mile, turn south on Kinnikinic Rd and park at trailhead. This is a busy place in summer, you might have to park on Baseline Rd. Started at the gregory canyon trailhead, which is off of flagstaff road at the very first switchback (past the Chataqua park turnoff). Went up via Amphitheater and Saddle Rock trail. Down via Greenman trail to ranger trail and Gregory Canyon trail. Seemed less technical going down than going up this way, which was nice on the knees. Beautiful!! really great place. you get to choose among several trails: flagstaff, green mtn, baseline. Very Scenic and very green. Gregory Canyon is a nice place for flowers in the spring, but it heats up fast on sunny summer mornings. The other parts of the route are mostly shaded. This is steep terrain, but lower in altitude than most Colorado hiking so at least there's some air. Ride your bike to the trailhead to get an even better workout and avoid any parking problems. I tried to attempt this hike using the directions listed above and got completely lost. The Bluebell trail head is separate from the Gregory Canyon one, so I ended up just getting to the rim of Gregory Canyon. There were no maps available for me to take with me. All in all, my dog and I had a great day, i would just recommend confirming your direction before you go. I will for surely try again, it's a beautiful atmosphere. Really nice hike. I deviated a bit from this exact hike, as I skipped the summit part accidentally, and took the Saddle Rock Trail all the way down. The hike was pretty challenging, there is quite a lot of elevation gain, and not many switchbacks. There were quite a few people out, maybe one every ten minutes or so. For my first hike in Colorado, it was great. The views of Boulder and the plains were really great, even though it was overcast out. I definitely recommend it as a good day hike for someone in the area. Moved to Colorado 3 weeks ago and this was my first hike here!! Was an amazing hike! And quite the lung burner. But had no real problems. I can't wait to get out and see more of colorado! This is a pretty hike and extremely nice for a city type green space. It is dog friendly so mans best friend is often seen on this loop. Better scenery than the very close Mt. Sanitas but not as challenging as South Boulder Peak (~3000 ft elevation gain) and the scenery from SBP is nicer. i had a pleasant trip up gregory canyon to Green Mountain via the ranger trail, then looped back down via the greenman/saddle rock trail. but due to the many trees at this summit, the view is obscured in many directions and not exceedingly panoramic. there is a helpful 'line up the pins' mountain identifier (above the seemingly super-glued-shut register canister) that helps identify the major mountains of much of the indian peaks, but if you're yearning for swathing views of the continental divide and front range i'd recommend Bear Peak and/or South Boulder Peak just a couple miles south.
