Summary: Hike north around Bear Lake about 1/4 mile. Follow signs to Flattop Mountain. Enjoy the Dream Lake overlook on the way. On Flattop enjoy the views on the continental divide, when ready turn south and follow the ridge trail up to the peak. Watch out for rain/snow on the top. Return the way you came. Trailhead: From Estes Park, take US36 west to the Beaver Meadows entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. Once in the park, go south on Bear Lake Road to the shuttle parking. Ride a shuttle bus to bear lake. Reviewed by KC on 7/31/2009 Made this hike in late July, unfortunately it was completely fogged in with visibility sometimes limited to 30 yards. Easy Hike. Poor planning on my part, thought the sun would burn off the fog...didn't happen. Get an early start, or you're riding the schuttle...Bear Lake Parking fills up fast.
Reviewed by Brad on 7/26/2005 The views in the Fall are fantastic. I would recomend it too anyone who loves the heights and scenery. There are also three more peaks you can bag if you have the time.
Reviewed by Balazs on 5/11/2005 Beautiful scenery all along the way to Flattop Mountain. The views from Hallets peak is only second to Longs peak in the Rocky Mountain National park.
