Summary: From parking, proceed southeast over field to edge of woods where you will see the yellow blazed trailhead (about 100 yards from parking). Enter woods on Yellow Trail and continue to junction with yellow/black dot trail. Turn right on this trail and continue uphill. Black Dot Trail climbs to ridge line, tuns north and eventually ends at the Yellow Trail. Turn left on yellow and follow back to car (you'll pass an open pit mine along the way). ====>Alternately, at this junction you can make a right on the Yellow Trail and continue for about 2 miles where the Yellow Trail ends near Bear Rock. You can leave a car at the Pyramid Mt Visitors center or double back. There are some fascinating glacial erratics along this section that are worth checking out<==== Trailhead: Take Route 287 to Route 23 North. Bear right onto jughandle for Keil Ave/Kinnelon Rd (just before Burger King). Make left, continue through Rt23 onto Kinneon Rd going south for approximately 4 miles (Kinnelon Rd eventually becomes Powerville Rd). Parking is at intersection of Powerville Rd and Kincaid Rd by boulders. Part of yellow trl (on way to Bear Rock) must be walked. Long loop run can be made around Kakeout Res. (clockwise yellow, white, blue (Mennen), white, blue (Mennen again) and yellow (down Cat Rocks and back to Kincaid Rd). Vestiges of mine activity, old ruins may be viewed. Very Nice.
