I lived in the area for three years before returning to England. To walk the Accotink trail in the spring, when the red bud was in bloom, made a more lasting memory for me than the cherry blossom in DC. Mother nature at its best. Thanks for the memories!

There should be more maps at intersections directing the hiker and the signs were woefully lacking in the Danbury Forest area. There are no restrooms on the hike and no water fountains. Plan accordingly! Local birds are abundant, nothing unusual or rare. Several species of butterflies to view.

Great hike but need to be alot clearer in signs, when going on Danbury Forest to where that is what the problem is need an arrow going that way then into the woods, there were a few people who followed me and they were lost too.

Very Nice trail through the woods. I walked the loop twice and have seen many people exercising(walking, jogging, biking. The only part of the trail I didn't like was the trail going through the streets of a local neighborhood and then back into the woods. It only took 1 1/2 hours to walk the entire loop.

We (myself and 4 boys -- ages 10,7,5,3) biked this trail 7/10/06. Had a wonderful time. If you decide to take your bikes, make note there are three places you must dismount due to the steep terrain. One spot is a very steep set up steps just before the short way through the neighborhood. There is a path off to the left to walk the bikes up. I had to walk up three of the four bikes. Not a big deal, just know its coming if you take a bike. After the bike ride we then did mini golf, a carousel, a boat ride, and a picnic. A great day!!
