Summary: This is the downstream half of the Muddy Branch Trail that runs from MD Rte 28 to the C&O Canal at Pennyfield Lock. This section is between the trail crossing at Turkey Foot Road and the canal. There is also a trailhead on River Road at the Blockhouse Point parking lot. The trail is popuar with hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Although the Blockhouse Point trails (shown in yellow on the map) cannot be used by bikes, there is a bike lane on River Road. A section of the trail is disconnecetd at Esworthy Road between Query Mill and the gas line. Cautiously use the Esworthy Road shoulder here. The trail has many stream crossing. There are no bridges and some crossings are wet/muddy. The trail is clearly blazed in blue.

Trailhead: There are trailheads at each road crossing. The Turkey Foot Road trailhead is reachedby continuing on Jones Lane from MD Rte 28. Trailhead at creek crossing. The Esworthy Road trailheads are reached by taking Seneca Road from MD Rte 28 and bearing left onto Esworthy. Look for trail markers at the gas line crossing and at the intersection with Query Mill Road. There is a trailhead across River Road from the Blockhouse Point parking lot. There is a trailhead from the county section of the Pennyfield Lock parking lot on Pennyfield Lock Road which can be reached from River Road. (Lat:39.06609 Lon:-77.30492)
