Distance:6.25 miles round trip

Summary: This is a moderate to strenuous trail with a constant uphill climb until you reach the summit. The trail is a well maintained gravel base until the last half mile. From this point the trail is hard pack dirt and rocky. Difficulty would definitely increase during the rainy season.
The Stanford Avenue staging area is also the western access to the Ohlone Wilderness Trail, a 29-mile hiking and riding trail through some of Southern Alameda County's most beautiful wilderness, and provides access to Mission Peak's 2,999 acres.
Ensure that you have plenty of water before embarking on this hike, as there are very few spots to locate shade.
The trail may be shared with equestrians, and dogs are allowed.
There is no fee for parking, however on a busy day you may be required to park a little west, on one of the side streets.

Trailhead: From I-680 in Fremont, exit at Mission Boulevard and go north. After about 1/2 mile, turn right (east) on Stanford Avenue and follow it to the parking lot at the end. (Lat:37.50427 Lon:-121.9098)

This was my first attempt. We started @ 7.00 AM and we returned back @ 9.30 AM. Initally, it was little bit uncomfortable. Then it smoothens up. Again at the last phase, it becomes little bit straneous.

It took us 2 hours to go up and a little over hour to come down. I wouldn't call it a easy one but its not very difficult either. It is a very good trail to check out how fit you are :)

If you are in decent shape this will only take 2 hours in total there and back....if you are a typical out of shape, fast food eating american yeah this will take 4 hours.....overall it's a pretty boring hike (Other than this one girl with a nice ass that I passed)....no trees it is barren ground....but you get a decent view of what the south bay looks like.

This was my 1st time hiking at Mission Peak and I liked it. It was hard for the beginning because I dont hike very often but it was very worthy of the view. I brought my dog and she loved it too. I would love to go back before Christmas again.

It is unbelievable, my 2 year 10 month old son reached the summit last year. Of course, he spent more than 2 hours.

Not very difficult.

I haven't hiked in 8 years and this was a good start for me. I must agree with another reviewer and state that the scenery going up leaves much to be desired. I saw children going along on the hike but I think the last part would make it difficult for most under the age of seven to climb. Getting to the summit did take some effort, but all in all anyone with a will to get there can make it to the top.

This hike is NOT difficult. My 7 yr old and I climbed it early August. If you climb this and complain, hiking does not suit you. It is a good warmup practice for bigger hikes like Yosemite Falls which my son did in his first attempt in June or Half Dome which he will climb next year.
