Scenic Mount Davidson Loop

Near:San Francisco, CA
Scenery:
Distance:0.84 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:350 ft
Hike Time:1 hours
Difficulty:Easy
Trail Condition:Well maintained trail

Summary: Mount Davidson is easily recognized by the large Cross on top of the mountain. The cross is not actually inside the park, since the top of the mountain is owned by the Council of Armenian American Organizations of Northern California. This neatly separates church and state. Nifty, huh?

The trail heads up and around the east side of the mountain, and looking behind you, you get a great view of the city of San Francisco and the East Bay (if it's clear) and the East Bay hills. The trail leads you up to the top of the mountain, to the cross, then snakes back down through ivy and eucalyptus tree woods.

Trailhead: Public transportation:
Take the K,L, or M line MUNI trains to Forest Hill Station. Exit, and transfer to the 36 bus. Take the 36 toward Balboa Park BART. Get off at Myra and Molimo, which is where the bus turns around. Hike away from the bus stop, and up the hill.

Private vehicle:
From US 101 and I-280, take I-280 South and exit onto Monterey Blvd. Go 0.93 miles, turn right onto Foerster Street. Go 0.30 miles(5 blocks), turn left onto Low Palmos Dr. Go 2 blocks, turn right onto Bella Vista Way. Go 2 blocks, bear left onto Molimo Dr. Go 1 block, and turn left onto Myra Way. You are at the park, and should now look for parking. (Lat:37.73772 Lon:-122.45217)
