Summary: This is a great hike through wonderful oaks and palms. During the wet season it can get a little wet. During the winter / dryer months you can walk the trail and not get wet at all.

The park is very crowded on a nice winter weekend but once you get back on the hiking trails you will be in a different world. The complete trail system is close to 40 miles and has 6 primitive campgrounds.

If you have never hiked in the real Florida this is a great start.

Trailhead: Take main road through park go .3 miles past Bird Walk. Parking on Right Side at gate for Myakka Hiking Trail. Just under 5 miles from the main gate (Lat:27.27361 Lon:-82.26944)

Did a trail today with my Grandson. Parked on Park Drive and went in on Powerline Road, turned North on the All Weather Road, then west on Ranch House Road, then South on Park Drive back to the car. About four miles, not very difficult. Saw many birds, heard some hogs, and enjoyed the pristine Florida woods. Not marked very well, a better job could be done in signing the trails. Took about one hour and fifteen minutes and is very enjoyable. Love the Park.

Very nice hike. Trail is well marked, the service roads are not. Park was busy, but I had the trail pretty much to myself. I would also recommend the Hillsborough River State Park trails. I will be going back to both trails with friends.
