Summary: My son and I started the hike by following the Green Trail to where it intersects the the Red Trail, we followed the Red Trail Southwest to where the Red Trail reaches the Peavine Falls Road. We then bushwhacked South up to the Green Trail. We followed the Green Trail North back to the Red Trail. We followed Red Trail North until we reached the Yellow/White Connector. We took the connector until it reached the Yellow (Foothills) Trail. We followed the Yellow (Foothills) Trail until it met the Treetop Nature Trail. We continued on the Treetop Nature Trail until we reached the parking lot where we parked. My son and I really enjoyed this hike. The views from the top of the mountain are very nice and we also enjoyed seeing the small streams we saw along the hike. We hope that you will also enjoy taking this hike that follows the crest of one of the mountains in Oak Mtn State Park. Trailhead: To reach the Trailhead in Oak Mtn State Park travel I-65 to Cahaba Valley Road (Exit 246). Follow the signs to Oak Mtn State Park. You will travel State Park Road to the entrance of Oak Mtn State Park. Once entering Oak Mtn State Park, follow John Findley Drive approximately a mile until you see Terrace Drive on your right. Follow Terrace Drive to the Oak Mtn Beach parking area (across from the Wildlife Nature Trail). Park at the Oak Mtn Beach parking area. The entrance to the Green Trail is across the street (Terrace Drive) about 75 yards west of the entrance to the Wildlife Nature Trail.
