Summary: The trail starts off winding through some trees and grasslands. Immediately when you begin getting up on the ridge you'll have great views of the town of Oracle to the north and the Galiuro Mountains to the east. The trail is single track for a ways then widens out to what appears to be like a jeep road. You can tell some bulldozers have been in there pushing dirt around which was from the 2002 Bullock fire. As you get higher on the ridge you will get into the Bullock fire area as well as views of the Biosphere 2 to the west and San Manuel to the east. After the first burn area you'll drop into a valley where the Bullock fire area and the 2003 Aspen fire area meet. Looking up the trail you'll have a good view of Apache Peak which has been burned. As you begin your ascent you'll have to keep an eye out for the trail as you're going up more bulldozed terrain. The trail will jut off to the left so once you find it'll make the route up the steep hill easier. Trailhead: If you're driving north (and then east) on Oracle road from Tucson take a right on American Avenue on the edge of Oracle. Follow the road through town and take a right on Mt. Lemmon Highway. Shortly thereafter you'll take another right onto Cody Loop. Proceed on Cody Loop for a few miles until you get to a water tower that is on the left side of the road. Right below the tower is a small parking lot able to hold a few cars. Park there. The trailhead is across the street from the parking lot / water tower and you'll see a sign.
