Summary: PEEC (Pocono Environmental Education Center) is administered by the Delaware Water Gap NRA. The center sits on top of the Pocono Plateau. The hike starts out on the Sunrise trail. You will traverse through Oak/Hickory forests as well as Hemlock Ravines and pass old farm sites. Then you will get onto the Fossil trail where you will be able to view Fossil along the route. You end the hike by taking the Tumbling Waters trail. This is the highlight of the entire hike. You will traverse the edge of the Pocono Plateau were you will get great views of the Kittatinny mountains and the Delaware Valley. You also will descend down into a ravine and view two waterfalls. This is a common site along the eastern end of the Pocono Plateau. All the Water from on top of the plateau flows off of the steep eastern slopes forming waterfalls and Ravines. The steep slopes were cut by the Delaware River were all the water eventually flows into.
Trailhead: From milford PA. Take rt 209 South. Pass Dingmans and Dingmans Falls. Go about 3 miles or so. You will see sign for PEEC. Make right onto Briscoe Mt Rd. Follow Briscoe Mt until you come to PEEC. (Lat:41.1029 Lon:-74.5422)
