Summary: Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park offers comfortable year-round camping among tall redwoods. A continuous stream of visitors enjoy hiking trails, swimming holes, lush riverbanks and more than 800 acres of redwood, mixed conifer and oak forest.

Trails lead to a river, meadows and forest groves and also to Pfeiffer Falls and Big Sur Gorge. There are panoramic views of Big Sur Valley. The starting point for trips into the Ventana Wilderness is located a half-mile south of the park at Big Sur Station.

More than 200 campsites are available without hookups along the Big Sur River. There are also two 35-person group sites, a bike-in camp for 20 people, a spacious playing field and picnic facilities.

To many people Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is Big Sur. This makes it the most popular park for visitors to the Big Sur area. Within Pfeiffer Big Sur, the Pfeiffer Falls trail is hiked the most. It has everything Big Sur offers in a relatively easy hike.

Trailhead: From Monterey take CA-1 south for a little over 29 miles. At the entrance of Pfeiffer Big Sur Park turn left and proceed to the ranger station. They will provide you sith directions to the trail head which is located at the end of the far picinic parking area north of the ranger station. (Lat:36.25 Lon:-121.78333)
