Summary: From the Parking Lot follow the trail East. After a short ways the trail will split. Take the left turn to follow the longest loop clockwise. These trails are still under development, however the current ones are well labeled and easy to follow. This will be the Red Rocks Canyon Trail. It will pass an old lodge building, and a couple of lakes before turning West. At this point you should take the Quarry Pass trail and go through to gap created by the old quarry and down the other side. Then look for the hikers path (labeled Mesa Trail) that will lead you back down to the parking lot, but not until after giving you some great views of Pikes Peak, Red Rocks Canyon, and Colorado Springs. Trailhead: This trailhead is located just off of Highway 24 on the West side of Colorado Springs. Turn south off of 24 onto Ridge Road. The very first left after this turn will take you through a gate and into the parking lot for the trailhead. Trail Reviews Submit your own review A great in-town hike with something for almost everyone: hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, cross-country running or simply relaxing while loved ones take advantage of the park. We went on a Saturday and the parking lot was full, yet the park did not seem overly crowded once inside. When time is limited, this is a great escape for a couple of hours. It is a very nice short hike for someone that may not have all day to hike or is brining kids along. I enjoyed the views along the pond and the sandstone. The trails were well maintained. It offers a little variety and I would rate this trail even higher if it were a bit longer and was not set so close to town. As for in town or close to town trails, I think this has the best to offer. Great hike to take the kids along, not too difficult. Nice "in town hike". Great for out of towners/guests not ready for Co. altitude--easy hike, easy trail to follow, lots of wildlife to be seen. Great hike for small children. thought it was great and I run alot. Well maintained and loved the lake with the geese. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
