Summary: Starting at Lot A, catch white blazed Crossover Trl on paved rd. Follow crossover on old carraige rd. After stream crossing, turn left at two concrete pillars onto green/white blazed Halifax Trl. Climb switchbacks towards top of Mt Defiance. Unmarked tral on left near summit leads to good overlook about 50 yards away. Return to Halifax and soon make right onto red/white blazed Ringwood-Ramapo Trl. Stay on RR Trl, cross white blazed Crossover Trl (you will return on this trail). Pass view on rock, then begin descent. Turn left onto Blue Trl and begin gentle climb. Bear left onto yellow blazed Hoeferlin Trl and climb gets steeper. Reach another good viewpoint where Hoeferlin meets white blazed Crossover Trl. Good spot for lunch. Hoeferlin joins the Crossover Trail for a short way, then Crossover Trl leaves to the left. Stay on Crossover and take it back to car.
Trailhead: Take Rte 287 to Skyline Drive exit. Left off ramp onto Skyline Drive. Go up hill, then down. Bear left at 3 way intersection then turn right onto Greenwood Lake Turnpike. Take Greenwood Lk Tpk to Sloatsburg Road. Turn right and follow Sloatsburg Road to Morris Avenue, then turn right and follow Morris Avenue to its end at Skylands Manor. Pass between two stone eagles and turn left into Parking Lot A.

Parking fee is charged from Memorial Day through Labor Day. (Lat:41.12743 Lon:-74.23886)
