Scenery:
Distance:6 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:1200 ft
Hike Time:3.5 hours
Difficulty:Moderate

Summary: This is a fun hike through dramatic rock formations and continuous panoramic views of both Simi and the San Fernando Valleys. In the spring, the green grass and rocky formations make for a stunning contrast, and wildflowers dot the trail along the way. On a clear day, you can see to the ocean. The last couple of hundred yards to the trail can be a bit of a scramble, but the views are worth the effort.
Trailhead: From Highway 118/Simi Valley Freeway in Simi Valley, exit on Kuehner Drive. Drive 3 miles south to the highway 118 east on-ramp. (along the way, Kuehner becomes Santa Susana Pass Road). Turn left, crossing over the freeway, and park 0.1 miles ahead at the end of the road. (Lat:34.26856 Lon:-118.63617)

i hike this trail regularly...however i don't believe it is 6miles rt. i hiked it tuesday 3/9 in 1:45 with an injured ankle. unles you spend a lot of time up top, i'm sure even a slow hiker can go up and back well under 3hrs.

There is no time to hike this trail like a sunny winter day. There was a lot of water flowing today-even some little cascades gugling among the rocks. From the peak we could see the Channel Islands to the west, and what looked like the distant rise of the San Jacintos in the east. Coyotes were out and trotting across the trail.

This is my favorite trial. In 2009 I hiked this at least 10 times. It is being a great workout. Only once I was able to see pacific ocean from this peak.

The high point is the easternmost peak which has only a slight trail going to it. Where the turn-off from the fireroad ends is NOT the highpoint. You need to continue down to the east saddle and up the south side with a scramble through some boulders to get to the high point.

Great views. There is an exit right at the trailhead called Rocky Peak exit, so you do not have to get off on Kuehner exit, three miles away.

Rocky Peak is a personal favorite! I hiked this on Thursday (checked out Hummingbird) and Xmas day with a 15 lb. pack. I prefer to go on Rocky Peak trail as it gives a great leg and butt workout! Great views too esp. when you get up to 2000+ ft. in elevation.

Hiked Rocky Peak on a whim this past Sun. The place really lives up to its name! Not much space to park...had to go opposite the park entrance near the 118E fwy on-ramp. Took Rocky Peak Trail and got up 2600' in elevation. Great workout and views! Will definitely come back again soon!

Sneakers ok. We hiked on 11/28/09 and the weather was perfect. The sky was clear and we had incredible views of both valleys. The views begin very shortly along the trail and accompany you for most of it. Some cyclists, but no too many. I heard that this trail is somewhat of a Thanksgiving tradition for a couple hundred people. He said that the trail is packed on Thanksgiving. It sounds like fun to me. There are lots of beutiful rocks. The hike took us 2 1/2 hours with a 1/2 hour lunch break at Rocky Peak. This is a breathtaking trail and you'll enjoy it. It was clean and graffitti free when we went today.
