Horse and Dans Trail Loop

Summary: At the parking lot take the west road past the orange gate (across the street from the parking lot) which is Patterson Road (or 600) which is a gravel fire road (up hill). About 1.3 miles on the left you'll see a marker identifying "Horse Trail" (upper). This is a single track maintained trail that takes you down through the old growth. You will come out ont he 610 fire road, take a right on this road and follow it to the junction of 612.4 where you'll see a marker for the upper part of Dan's Trail on your right. This is a maintained single-track trail that takes you back up the hill towards the summit of Dimple Hill. At the top is a fork, going left takes you a short distance to the Dimple Hill summit and Dan's Memorial meeting the 650 road. Going right bypasses the summit and takes you to a short distance where you also pick up the 650 road, and a short distance back to the 600 road. Go right at the junction on the 600 which will take you back to the parking lot
Trailhead: Heading north on Hwy 99 just south of Corvallis, Oregon take a left at the light onto Lewisburg Road. Follow about 1.5 miles and take the bending right onto Sulpher Springs Road. This road winds to the top of the "saddle" where you will find an small parking lot two orange gates and a portajohn. This is one of the many entrances to Oregon State University's McDonald Forest. You can year round on the fire roads, but the single tracks can get muddy in the winter and early spring. (Lat:44.702778 Lon:-123.491667)
