Yes, be aware of hunting season and wear bright colors. Beautiful hike, gorgeous views everywhere, flowers are all in bloom. Narrow trails, one of my daughters was nervous, but she did fine. There's still snow patches to play in. Not many places to move a large dog off the trail to let others pass, but that only mattered because it was crowded when I went up. There's a small clean outhouse at the trail head and plenty of room for parking.

This hike is relatively easy, yet very rewarding. Depending on weather conditions it offers a great panorama view on the Skagit River valley during the entire hike. From the top there is a nice view of the surrounding Northern Cascades including Mount Baker. July seems to be a very good time of the year for this hike because of the abundance of wildflowers. On the North side there were just enough patches of snow left for the kids to have fun and enjoy a snowball fight in July. The drive on Forst Road 1030 to the parking lot at the trail head is rather rough (potholes etc.), but the hike is worth it. I can only recommend this hike!

Although the trail head info sheet describes this hike as "more difficult" not easy, it is entirely worth every extra heart beat! Intense and profuse wildflowers and pleasant breezes make this one a keeper, even if it isn't really "easy." Go all the way to the top, friends, it's worth it!

This could be the perfect day hike. It does tend more toward moderate than easy, but is well worth the effort. The views and the wildflowers are phenomenal! Do be prepared for the 26 switchbacks on the trail, and also for the arduous 8 mile drive up to the trailhead (potholes, washboard road, hairpin turns).

Hiked Sauk Mt on Wed July 16, 2008. The wild flowers and view of the teal colored Skagit River below as you ascend, are incredible. It was a perfect day, warm with a gentle breeze.Very worthwhile and will keep it on my top 10 short hikes list!
