Summary: This hike started out as a mountain biking adventure and turned into a hike when I decided to go off-trail. That's when I got in trouble. I went on an infrequently used trail and therefore one where the spider webs were not cleared. After get my third spiderweb facial, I decided to walk the bike and was therefore able to avoid the next three web traps. Then I got back on my bike and rode again and got a spider in the mouth. I quickly spit it out and sent spider guts and legs onto my bike-mounted GPS. Mmmm, tasted like chicken! After finally arriving at the river, I reversed portaged across with my bike and continued the ride toward 426 in the 92° heat. Unfortunately, the trail was so sandy it had to walk the bike. Then the trail disappeared altogether and I ended up going through somebody's field full of foot-high grass. What a mess! I should have stayed on the other side of the river.
