Strawberry Lake Trail and Lake Loop

Summary: This hike starts out in Prairie City Oregon which has full services - Food, Fuel, camping and information about the general area.

You will drive about 9.0 miles on asphalt to the National Forest- Strawberry Mountain Wilderness boundry where the road turns to gravel single lane for about 2.5 miles. There are several campgrounds along the U.S.F.S section of the road with the main campground and the trailhead at the end of the gravel.

There is a large parking spot and RV's should be able to make it in and out okay. The trail to the lake is itself right at 1 mile long with an elevation gain of around 700 feet. The lake loop trail is about 1,4 miles around with an elevation gain of about 100 feet. There are a lot of camping areas around the lake itself with several trails branching off to Peaks, other lakes and waterfalls.

You will be hiking through mostly a Lodgepole - Englemann Spruce - Grand Fir stand of trees with several rims of rock against the skyline.

Trailhead: From Downtown Prairie City, Oregon, Head South Southeast on County road 60 for 11.5 mile to the Strawberry Campground. There is a large sign marking the trailhead parking spot on the right and across the road from the campground. Trail #375 starts at the end of the road. (Lat:44.32014 Lon:-118.67663)
