Summary: This trail is a nice easy hike that has some beautiful scenery, but falls somewhat short of it's potential. In the spring wildflowers abound and sutton creek flows clean and clear. massive overgrowth of wild rhododenderon makes for beautiful flowers but limits the scenery to a trail through a jungle like environment. Sutton lake is nice but many houses and the nearby highway limit the feeling of wilderness. Endangered snowy plovers nest in the sand so please dont go wandering off the trail. Bring sandals, as most of the trail is made of sand.
Trailhead: The trailhead to this well signed trail is easy to find. Follow hwy 101n. three miles from florence to the sutton lake recreation area. Follow the road to the parking lot. You will need an northwest forest pass or a day use permit to park at the trailhead and picnic area. (Lat:44.05563 Lon:-124.09826)

WE hike the inland trails on windy days, because it is out of the wind. We enjoy the wildlife, and plants and trees. The beach is awesome when the weather is pleasant.
