Near:Murrysville, PA
Scenery:
Distance:1.28 miles round trip
Elevation Gain:363 ft
Hike Time:1 hours
Difficulty:Moderate
Trail Condition:OK, but a few difficult spots
HikeType:Loop

Summary: This loop begins at the upper parking lot, passes the pond and then begins the climb up Hear Attack Hill. The name is a bit of an exageration (unless you decided to climb straight up the gas line cut) but it is a significant climb. The loop then takes you up Pokeberry Hill and then back to the gazebo and parking area.

This 160 acre park in Murrysville has about 4 miles of trails so you have many opportunities to hike as much as you want through varied environs. The park has two picnic pavillions and the pond is stocked with fish.

Trailhead: Turn north off of Rt 22 in Murrysville onto Vincent Hall Street at the McDonald’s . Cross over the next intersection and it becomes Sardis Road. Go 4 miles on Sardis Road. You will pass the Municipal Building and Sloan School and some soccer fields. Turn at the next left onto Twin Oaks Lane. Go about a half a mile. Townsend Park will be on your left. It has a brick entrance and is across from Bridgewood Drive. You can park at the top of the hill across from the gazebo. (Lat:40.46174 Lon:-79.67347)
