Summary: If you take this loop trail in the clockwise direction, you will start with a nice walk through a deciduous forest area, with several sinkholes found right along the trail. The trail eventually merges with an old forest road, which leads to the first views of Fourteenmile Creek.

You will follow the creek for nearly 3/4 of a mile, with grand views of the creek to your left and mossy, rocky hillsides to you right. You will then begin climbing away from the creek, through a rocky forested area. The last 1/2 mile of the trail is once again along an old forest road, leading you back to the trailhead.

Trailhead: From I-65, take Indiana State Road 62 east for approximately 8 miles. Turn right, into the park shortly past the city of Charlestown, IN. Once in the park, turn left at the first intersection and Trail #1 is found at the end of the gravel/dirt road. (Lat:38.44564 Lon:-85.63639)

We had an awesome day on trail 1!! The rocks, the creek, the different types of trees, the sound of the trickling water was fabulous. We found a little salamander in the trickle of some water under a large overhanging rock, we named him Sunny and took his picture! This was a great adventure and we plan on coming back again with and without our 5 kids! I also fell deeper in love while there!!

very nice, hiked yesterday afternoon..noticed a caren about a mile in going the clockwise direction that appeared to lead down towards fourteenmile creek. Would like to go back and explore more.. The trail had a few boggy spots in the extreme low parts. With the rain levels this early winter this is to be expected.. A few little benches located in the middle sections offer a nice chance to sit and reflect on the terrain.. An easy hour 15 mintue hike. I recomend the clockwise route, this will leave you with the last .5 miles on the flat straight old forest road... A nice area, some old bridge foundations in the area. Yesterday a few hunters out , but they sounded to be on private property on the other side of 14milecreek...

Park is not very safe after dark. There is no lighting on any roadway or in parking lots. Parking lots are pitch black and a target of thieves. Do not leave your car out of site. Watch out for obstacles while backing up, including garbage cans and parking space dividers. It is pitch black.
