Nice Trail on the poplular Campbell Tract

Summary: Over 730 acres of land in Alaska's largest city awaits the day hiker. This area is one of the most popular areas used by locals. Over 12 miles of trails are here for you to explore. The area is home to moose, bears, wolves and salmon as they move upstream during the summer. Dogs and horses are allowed as well as bicycles. Maps of the trails can be found in the Google search below. Be sure and stop by the Campbell Creek Science Center during your stay.

View Point Trail is also known as the Tour of Anchorage Trail. This is a nice trail that gives a leisurely hike through gentle terrain. Wildlife viewing is good in this area year round. Salmon can be seen spawning at the trailhead during the summer months.

Trailhead: Trails can be accesses two ways.

1.Take the Seward highway south Tudor Road. Head east to Lake Otis Parkway. Take Lake Otis Parkway to East 68th Avenue and follow the road until it turns into Abbott Loop Rd. The Campbell Tract facility sign will direct you to the tract.

2. From the Seward highway take the Tudor Road exit. Head east on Tudor until you reach Campbell Airstrip Road. Drive down Campbell Airstrip Road 1.1 miles to the trailhead. This trailhead is not as well marked as the first. If you are not careful you may miss the turnoff.

I use this trail all the time as part of my fitness routine. Be cautious though, you will see mother moose and their babies on this trail.
