Go right around the loop and look for a single track trail on your right. Follow this trail down through the forest till it "T's" with another trail. Go right on this trail as left is marked private property. As you go right follow the trail down to the side access road and back onto the 600. Go left and as the road starts down, take a left on to the 5030 side road and follow it up till it ends, take the single track trail back down to the parking lot.
Trailhead: From Corvallis take 3rd Street/Hwy 99 W north 5 miles and take a left at the light onto Lewisburg Ave. From Lewisburg take a gradual right onto Sulpher Springs Road and follow up to the top or "Lewisburg Saddle." This is your starting point. You can do this hike in either direction (fireroad up and single track down or vise versa), but the single track should only be done when the trails are dry. We hiked the single track on the way up, which allows a person to get the steep parts out of the way early, and get them while walking uphill. As you know, walking steep, muddy single-track on the downhill can be tricky. Also allowed for a leisurely walk out on the road - perfect afternoon with my daughter.
