Summary: Vroman's Nose is a short, steep climb to a fresh perspective. Perched six hundred feet above the rich farmland of Shoharie Creek Valley, the cliff-tops of the Nose are the place to go when you want to get away from it all. Linger with the soaring turkey vultures, camp, picnic, or just relax above the peaceful valley before descending through pine forest, ending on a grassy slope above the parking lot.

The trail is easily followed, though it can be muddy in places during all seasons except summer.

Other nearby attractions include the Old Stone Fort historial museum, Iroquois Museum and Howes Caverns.

Trailhead: Take exit 22 off I-88 and follow Rte 145 into Middleburgh. Go right onto Rt 30 west. In 0.6 miles go right onto Mill Valley Road, pass through the small village of West Middleburgh and in 0.6 miles cross Line Creek. A few hundred feet beyond the bridge is a small sign and parking area on your left. (Lat:42.59487 Lon:-74.35782)

Hiked it after the Flood in June 07. What a remarkable sight! The creek out of its banks, birds soaring, and the air clear for miles. Really a great memory! I'll certainly be back. Thank you to those who maintain the trails, and careful hikers who carry in & carry out.

This is the perfect after work-pack a picnic dinner hike and I CANNOT WAIT to see this place in the Fall. First of all Schoharie County is just beautiful so driving to the trailhead was quite peaceful. We took Rte 30 from I88 to get there and Rte 145 to go back. This trail is lovely the entire way and it is very well maintained. The views are just breathtaking. Will go again and again.

We walked to the top on Mother's Day bringing a steamed lobster with us for lunch to eat at the top. The top has a beautiful view view and is well worth the moderate climb. There are some old dates etched into the stones at the top. Also, some dangerous looking overhangs which are excellent! My wife loved it -- lobster and all.

Hiked yesterday (Mother's Day) with our 2 kids, 2 & 6. Kids did great- I was short of breath on the way up- but it was exhilirating to get up there. We had a great picnic at the top. Lots of families and dogs along the way. We used a baby 'leash' for my son; which many people said they wish they had done when we saw them with their babies up on top near the ledge- definitely worked out for us. 45 minutes to get up and 15 minutes to get down. Kids liked the marker signs describing animal tracks, tree types, etc.
