Summary: Typical rail-trail conversion with an even and level surface of crushed limestone. This section of the Youghiogheny River Trail features an interesting geologic feature. The "Rusty Falls" south of Industry are built from the runoff of the Pittsburgh Coal Company's Ocean No. 2 Mine which closed in 1932. This section of trail features two sets of mile markers. The original P&LE markers measuring rail miles to Pittsburgh and the new plastic Great Allegheny Passage merkers for trail miles to Cumberland. Trailhead: To get to the Buena Vista trailhead take Renzie Rd. South from the complex intersection at Rt. 48 in Boston. This becomes Buena Vista Rd. The trailhead has a porta-john and picnic pavilions but no water fountains. (lat: N40 14.635 lon: W79 47.854) The Sutersville trailhead is accessable near the Elizabeth Forward High School. Off Rt. 48 take Simpsin-Howell Rd, left onto Peairs Rd. the left onto Douglass Run Rd. The trailhead is just on the East side of the bridge across the Youghiogheny River. (lat: N40 14.467 lon: W79 48.355). There are porta-johns but no water. A Tastee-Freeze is open seasonally just up the street.
