Summary: You could do this trail fast. Half an hour is all it takes to go up to the overhanging cliff face and back. If you're a grinder, you can skip the signs and do it even faster. But if you're that kind of person, what is the point of coming here? Why not just run around the track back at home?

Weeping Rock offers a spectacular view downcanyon, especially of Zion's signature landmark The Great White Throne. Water that has filtered for 1200 years seeps out of the Navajo Sandstone where it meets the Kayenta Shale and forms a steady rain in front of an overhang. Enroute you pass through a sloping swamp, a distinctive feature of Zion, where maidenhair fern and horsetails grow.

Bird lovers will enjoy the swallows and when the maples begin to turn in late October, there is yet another spectacle not to be missed. The passage of the hours will change the hues before your very eyes.

Trailhead: The Zion Canyon Visitor Center crops up just north of the Springdale Park Entrance on Utah Highway 9.

From April until October, a shuttle bus service is available to take you to the trailhead. Get off at the Weeping Rock bus stop and go up the parking lot to the footbridge. Turn left after the foot bridge to ascend the nature trail.

Like all Zion Canyon trails, you must remember that you are in a desert. Bring water, a hat, and a camera for an incredible view of the Great White Throne. (Lat:37.2713 Lon:-112.9386)
