Summary: This neat park offers hiking trails, an 18 acre lake with fishing and rental boats, RV and primitive campsites, picnic shelters, an amphitheater and the Andrew Jackson museum. The focal point is the bronze statue of Andrew Jackson by Anna Hyatt Huntington, cofounder of Brookgreen Gardens. Trailhead: There are two trails in the park, the Garden of the Waxhaws Trail circles the lake and the trailhead starts across the dam. The back side can have some muddy spots especially after recent rain. The Crawford Trail starts beside the chapel and winds it's way through thick forests before returning to the parking lot. Each trail is approximately one mile in length. Clean, safe and pleasant but a little hard to find once you are off I-77. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous. You are responsible for informing yourself about these hazards and taking necessary precautions. Information on this web site comes from volunteer reporters and may contain errors or omissions.
