Summary: The Bratton Trail is a 4 mile loop which winds it way around the 775 acres that make up Historic Brattonsville. There are several interconnecting trails that total another 4 miles. We took the Bratton Trail only which has some nice elevations, footbridges and meadows. There are also 2 lakes that you'll pass and you may see beavers. About 1/3 of The Patriot was filmed here and the visitor center has some artifacts on display from it. You may be walking in the footsteps of Mel Gibson !! They have a nice picnic shelter just off the nature trail, take advantage of this !! There is a fee of $2 to hike but admission is free the 3rd Sunday of each month.
Trailhead: Take the Cherry Rd. exit (82-B) from I-77 in Rock Hill, leading into town, follow this road which is Hwy-322,travel west for approximately 15-20 miles, about 1 mile before you enter McConnells you will see a sign directing you to Historic Brattonsville. (Lat:81.104 Lon:-34.519)

Lat/Lon for trail head is incorrect. Please post a review with the correct coordinates so this can be corrected.

I am completely perplexed how anyone can honestly suggest hiking here for any reason at all. I understand the no dogs rule, although it doesn't make sense once you walk through this area. What bothers me is the fact that they charge a full admission to the Brattonsville Historic Site to hike the trail, which is barely a trail. If you have a couple of trees behind your house then you have seen better woods than these. This is one of the most dull, uneventful, and absolutely boring experiences possible in the foods. What is worse is that they want $8 to hike it per person. $8 for 4 miles!!! A walk on the freeway would lend a better work out, better scenery, and a better time. A complete waste that I will never experience again.

These trails are great. Some things to know before you go: 1. The trails close at 5:00 when the site closes. 2.There are absolutely no dogs allowed on site and this includes the trails. 3.They do however allow horses on their trails the 3rd Saturday of every month.
