Summary: Excellent well maintained trail. This trail will take you through almost every type of landscape Illinois has to offer. It has everything from lowland creeks, timber, flood plains, strip mine lakes, and of course prairie. The area along the kickapoo creek has to be some of the best bird watching in the mornings that I have seen. A great hike alone or with the family. Make sure to visit the animal exhibits while you are here. There is a admission fee so please check the web site http://www.wildlifeprairiestatepark.org/ for latest pricing information and hours. Reviewed by G on 8/13/2003 re: Flood Plain Trail report I think it would essential to mention in the report that the trail is located in a Fee Based facility. $5.50 for 13+ and $3.50 for 4-12 is a bit much for a hike when there are numerous, alternative trails in the area for Free.
