Today, i chose to do it up the south ridge, which was sorta sucky, but not as bad as going up little canyon. down little canyon was nice, and across telegraph and up easy street was beautiful as always. it was already too hot and sunny for my taste at 10:00 am. It took me about 50 minutes. Fun stuff. Hiked on 1/8/07 around noon. The hike itself was nice not much to see though. Kinda windy. started on Easy Street to Telegraph Canyon to Little Canyon to South Ridge. I was expecting to see more wildlife but none to find. good exercise. Hiked on 3/26 Sun....cut across to Gilman Peak via Easy Street, Telegraph Canyon, Gilman Trail, etc. From there went east on North Ridge to Sycamore Trail, Telegraph to Little Canyon to South Ridge, back to trail head at Rimcrest Drive. Good first visit. Around 6.5 miles. Overcast day great for hiking but not for pictures. Shoulder high Mustard everywhere. Lupine and Wild Artichoke also. Turkey vultures buzzed us on North Ridge trail. Saw Redtail hawk. Frogs were croaking up a storm in Telegraph creek. Will return with the family. An all around pleasant day. It was my first time hiking! I went a couple days after the rain. Hike was beautiful although going UP Little Canyon wasn't too easy or little. Will not recommend this hike on a hot summer's day. Ended up going up to Sycamore Canyon and saw some mountain lion prints in the mud. Definitely needed the map, or we would have gotten lost. After the rain, the wild plants took over the trail halfway. Quite adventurous! Very nice hike. Have hiked it twice. First time went Easy Street to Telegraph Canyon East to McDermont North to the North Ridge Trail(Steep at times)went back down Sycamore to Telegraph and then back to Easy Street. Second time went Easy st. to Telegraph canyon west to Carbon Canyon and back. Second was quite pretty. Had a run in with coyotes. A coyote was on a hill near by, it saw me and began to howl within a minute there were about 3 more around that were also howling. Nothing happened but was a new experience. Went later in the afternoon; beautiful, but dry. More bikers than hikers, but bumped into less than 10 people total. Little streams to cross that will dry up when summer rolls around full blast. Last leg of hike, Easy Street trail, is difficult to find. It is not marked with a sign and it is overgrown, but it is hikable. If you're heading West on Telegraph trail, it's before the phone line poles. Chino hills SP is easily acsessable and there are very few if any people. This place has nice scenery if you like green hills (In the spring)I have seen Deer there and many birds. This hike has overgrowth on the fireroad after all that rain and it's spring. The area is covered in green growth with yellow flower hillsides. I would rather go on Easy Street to get to Telegraph Canyon Rd. trail. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
