Summary: From parking lot look for the trailhead sign on the north side. Follow this heavily traveled trail. After hiking for 1.25 miles there will be a sign on the right side of the trail at an intersection. Continue straight past the intersection and follow the obvious trail. This trail is frequently used by snowshoers in the winter so is easy to follow most any time of the year. Some of the trees have been notched to mark the trail when it is concealed by snow. The high point of the trail will come a short ways before the lake, then you will descend slightly down to the majestic lake near treeline. Trailhead: In the town of Buena Vista there is one stoplight. From this stoplight head west on Highway 306. Take this road for 12 miles where you will see a parking lot on the right side of the highway. This is the trailhead. This is an excellent trailhead for those without high clearance vehicles as the road and parking lot are all paved.
