Stay on the Raw hide trail the entire way, its more like 6.1 miles. I did it in just over 2 hours and I cinsider myself just above average in conditioning. Great veiws and not too crowded, well maintained. Lots of wild life sign. Lots of shaded areas if needed. For being this close to metro excellent hike area. Good hike with sun and shade. There are a bunch of other trails in the White Ranch Park. http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/openspace/openspace_T56_R57.htm Great for a quick hike outside of Denver. - You'll find a lot of mountain bikers as well. Very nice, good trail for those like me who do not have a high degree of physical conditioning but enjoy a moderate hike with great scenery. Side trails available for modifying your hike, if you so choose. My husband and I have done this hike a couple of times. It is a great hike you can do in under 2 hours. The hike has plenty of views and the feel of being in the mountains. You can refill your watering container midway at the Waterhole. It's never two busy and a easy commute from Denver. This is one of our personal favorites. I did this hike with my husband, kids aged 10 and 8, and dogs (one husky aged 2 and one large mixed breed aged 8). The weather was nice, it was in March, but the trail was quite icy near the beginning. This kept our walk at a slow pace for a while. Also, it IS a moderate walk. We started off at 2.00pm and finished at 6.15pm. Mainly because the kids got tired, and it was icy in parts (therefore slower going). It was a BEAUTIFUL walk. There were no other hikers. The dogs LOVED it. Take baggies with to pick up after your dogs, as we did. This will keep the trail a pleasure for other hikers and won't give us dog owners a bad name. We're definately going to do this trail again. The views were fantastic. We also saw a herd of deer. Notice: Traveling in the backcountry can be hazardous.
